Most of the time when I do the Halloween blog-a-thon I have an idea of what films I am going to watch and plan accordingly. This year I had no idea what I was going to watch so I went and dug through piles of DVDs, Blu-Rays, and I also searched through all the streaming services at my disposal. I dug out movies that I have no idea where they came from or when I got them. The Jurassic Dead is one of those films. I don’t know why, because I don’t see how it matters very much but the film is also know as Z-Rex.
I’m going to tell you that none of the people responsible for this one have I ever heard of before and probably won’t ever again. Same can be said for the actors in the film. Now someone starring in the film who I have heard of before but not for acting is Rachel Pennington who was an MMA fighter a few years ago. I don’t know if she was any good, I just know she was a fighter and guess what, she was one of the better actors in the film.
Now, as bad as the acting is here, the special effects are laughable. Most of the blood is computer generated and it’s a cheap computer they were done with to boot. I mean this film is a failure in just about every way possible. The film is about a crazy wheelchair bound man who is conducting experiments that bring the dead back to life. The reason? To try and take down the United States. He joins forces with some Nazis to try and get the job done. Now the zombie-fied T-Rex (which doesn’t really look like a T-Rex) is the secret weapon which is sort of a bit weak because it really doesn’t seem to be their best weapon. I always try to find something to say positive about films but here I’m having a tough time finding any redeeming points whatsoever. One and a half Duke Nukem’s out of five. This one is really bad and not in an it's so bad it’s good way either. Just bad!
