Evil Bong

We head back over to the world of Full Moon Entertainment with another film from Charles Band.  2006's Evil Bong is sure to be, just from the title, a foray into the absurd.  So needless to say I went into this one not expecting much especially since I'm fairly familiar with Full Moon films.  As you can probably tell from the title this one is about a bong that is inhabited by an evil spirit that traps anyone that smokes from it in it's own bong world.  The film stars a bunch of unknowns as college students who purchase the sentient bong but the film is loaded with guest cameos with the main being from Tommy Chong from Cheech and Chong fame.  He is the original owner of the bong and is the only one who has smoked from it and not been trapped in it's world.

Also making cameos are Bill Mosely (Devil's Rejects), Phil Fondacaro (a Full Moon veteran from Meridian and Decadent Evil), Tim Thomerson (Trancers, Dollman), Ooga Booga (Doll Graveyard, Ooga Booga) a possessed doll, Jack (the evil Jack in the box from Demonic Toys), as well as the Gingerdead Man (Gingerdead Man series) a possessed gingerbread man.  Yes, you read those last two right.  The best parts of this film are Tommy Chong's appearance and most of the scenes that take place in the Bong World.  The trick is the Bong World is tempting and pleasing and it makes you want to stay there.  Staying there means you die in this world.

So how is the movie?  I guess that depends on how familiar you are with Charles Band and his Full Moon Pictures.  If you know enough you will enjoy this one like I did.  No, it's not great but knowing what you are getting into prepares you enough to get your monies worth out of this one.  This one is certainly not the one to watch if you are new to Full Moon, you need to work up to this one of all the cameos just won't make sense.  I'm just always surprised, pleasantly too, with just how much Full Moon can do with a next to nothing budget.  The Horror Honey and I both took a nice long toke from this one and we both thought this was some good shit!  3 Pot Leaves out of 5 for this one.

  1. Yeah, not for me. I have a low tolerance for this kind of flick. To each their own. :)
