The Flash - Jason Garrick

Origin - During a chemical experiment gone wrong, Jason Garrick (better known as Jay) was given the ability of superhuman speed. After becoming the world's first Flash, Jay quickly became a member of the Justice Society. Like many of his teammates, due to a magical enchantment, he did not age as a normal humans his age would have. Jay has fought crime for nearly 70 years going in and out of retirement several times. During that time he has also helped train many other speedsters with similar abilities including Barry Allen, Wally West, and Bart Allen. Currently he is still a member of the JSA acceptimg missions on a part time basis.

Powers and Abilities - Jay Garrick is a conduit for the speed force. The speed force is a vaguely defined extra-dimensional energy force from which most superspeed-powered heroes draw their powers. The Speed Force serves as the ultimate measure of velocity. They are often referred to in terms of barriers: Sound barrier, Light barrier, Time Barrier, Dimensional Barrier, and finally the Speed Force Barrier. The speed force gives him super endurance as well as super speed. Jay was born with a meta-gene that allowed him to use these abilities after the chemical accident awoke them. The first Flash is able to speed up to multiple times the speed of light. He can run at superhuman speeds. Jay can create wind vortexes by running in circles or rotating his arms and legs. At the height of his abilities, he could time-travel and dimensionally transport to a certain extent unaided, by speeding up and controlling the vibration speed of his molecules. As Jay aged, he began to slow, so now he can only time travel with mechanical aids or with another higher powered speedster. His power allow him to run along the surface of bodies of water and up the sides of buildings. The Flash's body is surrounded by what he calls his "speed force aura". This aura protects him and anyone who is running with him or carried by him, from the effects of using his speed. This includes friction and airborne particulate matter. He does seem to possess some level of superhuman resistance to injury, but this does not extend far past normal physical interactions, as received from normal combat. Jay is an expert scientist and chemist as well as a master physicist. Jay's winged helmet which is made of a very durable metal has been used on occasion as a weapon that he has thrown at his enemies.

Weaknesses and Limitations - As Jay ages, his ability seems to lessen although with the recent training he received from Wally West on how to use and manipulate the speed force he has regained some of his original power. Although chronologically Jay is somewhere around 100 years old he has the body and appearance of someone nearly half that. With that being said, aside from the powers the speed force gives him, Jay has the normal limitations a 55 year old in exceptional physical condition would have.
