We're jumping into season three with not one but two episodes I want to write about and the good part is they happen close together in the season. First up is the thirteenth episode titled "Revelation". The episode begins with Nick coming over to Munroe's house where he meets Munroe's parents. Munroe and Rosalee are going to be married soon and Nick is to be the best man but things do not go well. After Munroe's parents meet Rosalee and discover she is a Fuchsbau they forbid them to get married. If that's not enough Munroe's parents then discover Nick is a Grimm and almost immediately the two want to attack him. After Munroe breaks up the fight his parents storm off. Nick tells Munroe he is there because of a case Nick is working on. A series of Wesen attacks have left several police officers dead and all of them have been scalped. Munroe, angry about his parents, tells Nick he can't help him right now.
The murders are being committed by a Wildesheer (dead man's hunt) who is a wolf like Wesen that the ancient Nordic warriors called Bezerkers were based upon. Wildesheer perform hunts on people and those that they hunt are usually in the realm of law enforcement, military, or whatever they would consider worthy opponents. In other words; someone who would make a good trophy kill. When Wildesheer kill they scalp their victims and create an item of clothing out of the scalps. This was due to them believing that wearing the scalps of their opponents would then give them the strength of their victims.
Meanwhile, Adalind and Renard have conceived a child and he sends her to Vienna to stay in a castle with his trusted confidant Sebastian. Their baby is the target of a kidnapping scheme planned by Renard's Royal Family. The Royal Family want to raise the child to be an agent of evil. Renard learns that Sebastian has betrayed him and is in fact trying to get the baby after it is born. Renard calls Adalind and tells her the details and says for her to follow a man named Meisner who will help her escape. After a small fight breaks out Adalind and Meisner leave with Meisner forcing Sebastian at gun point to drive them away from the castle. Meisner eventually allows Sebastian to leave and he and Adalind go to a cabin in the country where Adalind goes into labor even though she is only a few months pregnant.
Back in Portland, with the help of Munroe and Juliette, Nick figures out what kind of Wesen is responsible for the scalping. He also figures out what the Wildesheer's weakness is. Like Samson, their strength and their weakness is their hair. At Nick's trailer several Wildesheer attack Nick and Munroe. With being outnumbered three to two, Nick and Munroe slowly begin to loose the fight when suddenly Munroe's father Bart shows up and evens the teams. Munroe, Nick, and Bart make a good trio and soon the three Wildesheers are scalped and killed. Munroe and Bart make up while at The Spice Shop Rosalee and Munroe's mother Alice (played by a favorite of mine and someone who I was lucky enough to meet; Dee Wallace) also attempt to bury the hatchet. Nick, Juliette, Rosalee, Munroe, and his parents all have dinner together again. Juliette asks if they have set a date for their wedding which causes Bart to woge which in turn causes the rest of them to woge. Nick stands up at the dinner table and tells everyone to calm down. Bart apologizes and tells everyone "This is going to take some getting used to.". The opening quote for this episode is : "Still after a short time, the family's distress again worsened and there was no relief anywhere in sight." and is taken from Hansel and Gretel.
Not too long after Revelation, five weeks to be exact, Synchronicity aired. This episode begins with Nick and Hank discussing Nick having second thoughts about being Munroe's best man. Nick is concerned that some of the Wesen attending the wedding (and there will probably be a lot of them) would identify Nick as a Grimm and cause a huge fight. Something Nick does not want. Hank also wonders just how Wesen know he is a Grimm. Nick goes to Munroe's house and gives the couple the bad news. Munroe thinks that it's an easy fix if Nick was to just wear sunglasses as it is his eyes that give away that he is a Grimm. A Grimm's eyes turn very dark and become reflective allowing a Wesen to see their nature in his eyes. Munroe gives Nick a pair of sunglasses to try. Munroe and Rosalee woge and the idea works so Nick is back in the wedding.
In Switzerland, Adalind, who has now had her baby, a girl, is still on the run with Meisner. Adalind is forced at gunpoint to a van by members of the Verrat. The Verrat are that Wesen group working for The Royal Family which is run by Renard's family. Meisner is off fighting Verrat in another wooded area so Adalind and her baby are practically defenseless. Suddenly a cloaked figure takes out all of the kidnappers. Meisner shows up and asks Adalind how she did all that meaning take out the kidnappers. She tells him she didn't that someone else was there. The figure comes from the other side of the van and is revealed to be Kelly Burkhardt, Nick's mom. The three of them make their way to a plane that will take Adalind and her baby to safety. Kelly goes with them but Meisner stays behind. He calls Renard to give him an update. Renard tells Meisner that he should probably disappear for awhile.
Back on the plane Kelly tells the pilot that their original destination (Brazil) may be a bad idea since the Verrat knew where the plane was picking them up. The pilot tells her he is open to going wherever she has in mind. After giving the pilot a new destination she goes back to check on Adalind and the baby. The baby seems a little aggravated due to the altitude change. Kelly suggests Adalind rub just below the baby's ears to help relieve the pressure which does help. Kelly then tells Adalind that she should get some sleep and Adalind agrees. She hands the baby over to Kelly and goes to get some rest. While holding the baby Kelly pulls a necklace with a locket on it and waves it in front of the baby's face. Suddenly the locket stops moving, the instrument panel on the plane goes haywire and the baby's eyes glow purple. The locket then opens and Kelly looks at a picture of a young Nick. The pilot comes back and tells Kelly they are near their destination and will be landing soon. As the plane flies over a field a farmer watches it go overhead. He gets into his pickup truck and follows it. By the time he catches up to the plane it is taking off again. The farmer then sees Adalind standing in the field holding her baby. She asks the farmer for a ride but he says he's going to call the police. Before the farmer can dial his phone Kelly knocks him out and the two get in the truck. As Adalind gets in she notices an Oregon license plate on the truck. As they are driving Adalind sees a road sign that says they are 12 miles from Portland. Adalind thinks Kelly is working for Renard but she says she has no idea who he is. She wants to know where Kelly is taking them and Kelly just says "Somewhere you will be safe.".
The three of them arrive at Nick's house and he and Juliette are shocked to see them. Juliette attempts to attack Adalind as this is the first chance she has gotten since her memory returned. Nick tells Kelly that Adalind cannot stay. The four of them discuss the situation and as things get heated a picture frame breaks, a spoon on the table bends and the house begins to shake. Kelly tells Nick that the baby did that. Juliette takes Adalind and the baby upstairs and after telling Adalind she should feed the baby goes back downstairs. Nick asks how the baby got it's powers and Kelly says probably from Adalind if she has her powers back (which was shown earlier in the season that she did get them back) which Nick didn't even know was possible. When they go back upstairs to check on Adalind they discover she has somehow left and taken the baby with her. Adalind drives off in the truck and goes to Sean Renard's condo and introduces him to his daughter. He smiles as Adalind hands him his daughter for the first time. The episodes opening quote comes from Carl Jung this time who said: "In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.", which creates a synchronicity that Juliette refers to in this episode.
