ABCs of Death 2 (2014)

For this years Countdown To Halloween we've been very horror anthology heavy and we continue that way with ABC's of Death 2.  Again, with 26 different stories and 26 directors I won't be singling anyone out specifically but I will talk about a few of the short stories that are contained here.  C is for Capital Punishment is about a man who is accused of killing a teenage girl in a small town.  Instead of going about it the legal way the townspeople serve as judge, jury, and executioner and decide to sentence the man to death.  Some of the people take the man on a long ride to a desolate location where they are to carry out his execution.  While they are traveling proof that the man is innocent comes to light as the girl is seen on the news having run away from home.  Two men leave town in a race against time in order to get word to the men about to kill an innocent man.

D is for Deloused is a stop motion animation short about a man tied up in a dungeon.  The mans captives are three ghouls who kill the man.  One of the creatures kills a louse that falls off of them.  The louse then creates a living copy of the man they killed and he proceeds to get revenge on his captors.  For stop motion, this one was really gross.  M is for Masticate is a case of mistaken identity.  A man runs down the street attacking a bystander by biting off their ear.  A cop shows up and thinks he's a zombie.  But is he?  A nice little twist on the zombie story.  N is for Nexus is about a night of Trick or Treating that goes horribly wrong and destroys several lives.  A really nice paced film with a huge anxiety buildup.  Probably my favorite of the entire film.

X is for Xylophone is about a grandmother who is watching her granddaughter.  The child plays with the titular xylophone.  Eventually the grandmother gets very disturbed with the childs playing of the instrument.  When the parents come home they are horrified to see what has transpired.  This one was really gross.  Finally there is Z for Zygote which is about a woman who is very pregnant.  Her husband has to go away but doesn't want to miss the birth of his baby.  He gives the woman an herb that will keep he from giving birth.  So the woman takes the herb and delays the baby's birth.  13 years later (yeah I said 13!) the woman still has not given birth and the baby is now talking to the woman from inside her.  Really demented story with shocking effects in this one.  As it turns out the trend of showing semen in a horror film rears it's ugly head again.  I'm looking at you Japan!  Almost at the very end too.  So close to making it through another one.  This one is very close in quality and entertainment to the first film.  This might be slightly better and if I was to recommend one or the other I would say this one is a smidge better so with that I will give this three I.Q. tests out of five.
