SS Experiment Love Camp (1976)

OK, so there's no way to sugar coat this one as this is a "Video Nasty" therefore it's not for the kiddies.  SS Experiment Love Camp is what is called a Natziploitation film directed by Sergio Garrone who is actually known mostly for spaghetti westerns.  This film, however, is set in a Nazi prison camp where experiments on the female prisoners are conducted in order to perfect the Aryan race.  Led by the sadistic Colonel von Kleiben the experiments become more and more perverse with the Colonel's true motivation even more bizarre than the experiments themselves.

There are no actors or actresses that I've seen before or heard of which is not unusual for this type of film.  As you would guess it's mostly attractive women being sexually tortured and raped.  The characters include a lesbian warden, an old guard who might be the biggest pervert of them all, and a sadistic doctor.  One of the soldiers, Helmut, is tasked to mate with a prisoner who he falls in love with.  After Helmut refuses to continue with the experiments, von Kleiben reveals his ultimate plan.  He makes Helmut a prisoner as well, and is now going to use him in his biggest experiment yet.  See years ago von Kleiben, while fighting on the front lines in the early part of WWII, takes a Russian girl and begins to rape her.  She is not having any of it and she bites off his testicles!

YIKES!!  Now that's never good when you get the boys bitten off!  So what's the plan?  Why a testicle transplant of course.  Turns out Helmut has a nice set on him and since he doesn't want to continue with the experiments any more he can become one of the experiments by being a donor.  While this is a Video Nasty (and one of the first ones in a long list of films to be banned in the UK) the film is fairly boring and rather tame even by today's standards.  Turns out the title of the film and the promotional poster (a nude woman hanging upside down on a crucifix) are the two reasons it was banned.  There's even some unintended humorous parts in here as well which is never good for a film when it doesn't mean to be funny.  I didn't have my expectations very high and I wasn't disappointed but I want to see as many of the Video Nastys as I can so sometimes you will run into films like this.  Best I can do for this one is two and a half "Where are my balls?" out of five.  Not for kids and if you get offended easily avoid it.

  1. You'd think with a plot like that, it'd be anything BUT boring.
